Hire WordPress Developer India: Work Directly With Me

Hi, I’m Nitin Rathod, a freelance WordPress developer in Surat, Gujarat. If you searched for “hire WordPress developer India”, you probably want someone who can build, fix or look after your site remotely, without the layers of an agency. That is the work I do for clients in India and abroad, from new websites and WooCommerce stores to one-off fixes and ongoing support.

You work with me directly. I write the code, answer your messages and send a clear written quote before any work starts. I’ve been working with WordPress for more than 10 years, mainly on custom themes, WooCommerce, performance, migrations and maintenance, including work for international clients.

Who I help

  • Small business owners who need a clear, mobile-friendly website they can update themselves.
  • Store owners setting up WooCommerce, or stuck with a checkout, shipping or order email problem.
  • Site owners who inherited a WordPress site and need it fixed, sped up or maintained. I don’t only work on sites I built.
  • Teams that already have a design and need it built properly in WordPress.

Not sure your project fits? Send me a short message and I’ll tell you honestly.

What you can hire me for

WordPress website design

Clean, responsive layouts built around your brand and the one thing you want visitors to do, whether that’s call, book or buy. Learn more about WordPress website design

Custom WordPress development

Custom themes, plugins, forms and API integrations for features off-the-shelf tools don’t cover well. If a trusted existing plugin fits, I’ll recommend that instead. Learn more about custom WordPress development

WordPress SEO

Titles, meta descriptions, headings, schema, sitemaps, internal links and Search Console checks. No link-building packages and no ranking promises. Learn more about WordPress SEO services

WordPress speed optimization

I measure first, then fix the real bottlenecks: heavy plugins, oversized images, weak caching, hosting limits and database bloat. Learn more about WordPress speed optimization

WooCommerce development

New stores and repairs: products, payments, shipping, taxes, order emails and checkout changes, with test orders run before real customers arrive. Learn more about WooCommerce development

WordPress maintenance and security

Careful updates, backup checks, security checks, small fixes and malware cleanup when a site has been hacked. Learn more about WordPress maintenance and security

Ways to work together

Fixed-price project

Best for work with a clear scope, such as a new website, a WooCommerce store or a speed optimization project. After a short call, I send the scope, price and timeline in writing, so you know the cost before I start. A small business website usually takes two to four weeks; stores and custom plugins take longer.

Pricing: there’s no single starting price, because every project is different. I quote each one after a short scope call. Payment terms: a 40-50% deposit to start, then milestone payments at agreed points, such as design approval, staging and launch. I hand over the final files and take the site live once the last invoice is paid.

Hourly work

Best for bug fixes, small changes and problems where the cause isn’t clear yet, like a plugin conflict or a form that stopped sending email. I explain what I checked and what I found.

Rate: USD 20 per hour, with a minimum of one hour. This works well for small changes, audits and any job that’s hard to scope up front.

Ongoing monthly support

Best if your site matters to your business but you don’t want to babysit it: updates of WordPress core, themes and plugins, backup checks, uptime and security checks, and small fixes, on a schedule we agree.

Monthly fee: USD 150-400 per month, depending on the plan. A typical plan includes 4-8 hours of work, security, plugin and theme updates, backups, uptime checks and priority email support. Extra hours are billed at my hourly rate.

Working across time zones

I work in India Standard Time (IST, UTC+5:30). India doesn’t use daylight saving time, so the gap with the UK, Europe, the US and Australia shifts by an hour when those countries change their clocks. My working hours are Monday to Friday, 10:00 to 19:00 IST.

The table shows my working day in your local time, and where it overlaps a typical 09:00 to 17:00 working day. Daylight saving (summer) times are in brackets.

Where you are My working hours in your time Overlap with your working day
UK and Europe UK: 04:30-13:30 GMT (05:30-14:30 BST). Central Europe: 05:30-14:30 CET (06:30-15:30 CEST). Good: your morning and early afternoon, about 09:00-13:30 in the UK (to 14:30 in summer) and 09:00-14:30 in Central Europe (to 15:30 in summer).
US East Coast 23:30-08:30 EST, overnight (00:30-09:30 EDT) Limited: early morning only. My day ends at 08:30 EST (09:30 EDT), so for calls we book a fixed early-morning slot.
US West Coast 20:30-05:30 PST, overnight (21:30-06:30 PDT) Little to none. Calls happen in a fixed slot we arrange in advance, usually in your evening.
Australia (Sydney and Melbourne) 14:30-23:30 AEST (15:30-00:30 AEDT) Your afternoon: 14:30-17:00 AEST (15:30-17:00 AEDT). My day carries on into your evening, so early-evening calls work too.

Most of our communication happens in writing, so you have a record of what we agreed and what changed. When it’s easier to talk, we can use phone or video calls on Zoom, Google Meet or WhatsApp. I speak English and Hindi, and all project communication is in English.

If your site is down or hacked, say so in your first message so I can prioritize it. Small urgent fixes outside my working hours are possible if we agree on it in advance, billed at my hourly rate. I don’t offer 24/7 cover.

How hiring works

  1. Tell me what you need. Use the contact form, email or phone. Share your site URL, what you want done and any deadline.
  2. Short call or message. I ask questions until I understand the goal, the features involved and any hosting limits.
  3. Get a written quote. Scope, price and timeline, in writing, before any work starts.
  4. Share access safely. I ask for the least access needed, usually a WordPress admin account, plus hosting or SFTP when the work requires it.
  5. Review on staging. I build and test on a staging copy, so your live site isn’t affected while you review.
  6. Launch and support. I handle the launch, give you notes on what changed and stay available for fixes afterwards.

Testing away from the live site matters to me. Here’s why I use a WordPress staging site before plugin updates.

Why hire a freelancer from India instead of an agency

Both can work well. Here’s how I honestly see the trade-off.

What you get when you hire me

  • Direct contact with the developer, with no account manager or ticket queue in between.
  • Plain-language explanations and a written quote, so you know what you’re paying for.
  • A focused specialist: WordPress, PHP, plugins and WooCommerce are the stack I use every day.
  • Honest boundaries. I’ll tell you when an existing plugin is enough or when hosting is the real limit.

When an agency is the better choice

  • You need a full team at once: designer, copywriter, marketer and several developers working in parallel.
  • You need round-the-clock cover. I’m one person in one time zone. When I take leave, I give at least a week’s notice. For active support clients, I schedule updates ahead of time or name a backup developer for critical issues, and I don’t take leave during a launch week.
  • Your project is big enough that a single developer would slow it down.

If cost is part of why you’re looking at India, that’s fair. I’d still judge any developer on fit: how clearly they explain the work, what’s in the quote and what past clients say.

“Nitin knows what he is doing! I had some issues with my PHP woocommerce store and he fixed everything. Thanks you! I’ll definitely hire him again.”

Nahom S., WooCommerce plugin fix

“Nitin is the best developer in his profession. He knows all aspects of business and he is handling our websites for 4 years. Extremely recommended.”

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to hire you?

It depends on the scope. For projects, I send a fixed quote after a short call, so you know the price before work starts. Small fixes are billed at USD 20 per hour (one-hour minimum), and monthly support costs USD 150-400 per month, depending on the plan.

Can you work on a site someone else built?

Yes. A lot of my work is fixing, speeding up or maintaining sites other people built. I review the setup first so I know what I’m working with.

How quickly do you reply?

I usually reply within 4-8 business hours on working days. If you’re on a support plan and your live site has an urgent problem, I usually answer within 2-4 hours during my working hours.

Will you sign an NDA?

Yes. I’m happy to sign a mutual NDA before you share logins, unpublished designs or business data. I also only ask for the access a job needs, and you can remove it when we’re done.

How do international clients pay?

You can pay by Wise, PayPal or international bank transfer. I invoice in USD or GBP, or in EUR on request. Wise is usually the cheapest option for both of us.

How long does a project take?

A small business website usually takes two to four weeks. WooCommerce stores and custom plugins take longer, and one-off fixes depend on the problem. Every quote includes a timeline.
